When a Mazatec healer shares her sacred mushroom rites with outsiders, she ignites the psychedelic revolution - and becomes its first sacrifice.

Steeped in tradition and set against the breathtaking Sierra Mazateca Mountains, a mushroom healer lives between two worlds. In the ordinary world, she faces hunger and hardship; in the spiritual realm, she wields extraordinary power.

Born into a lineage of Wise Ones, María Sabina inherits a sacred gift. As a child, she learns the language of the mushrooms and uses their wisdom to heal the sick.

In her story, the spiritual meets the political, testing the limits of tradition, fame, and exploitation. This is the journey of a woman whose sacred rites captivated the world—and exacted a profound personal cost.
